September is all about new beginnings. And in vineyards throughout Italy and the Northern Hemisphere, new beginnings are manifest through harvest. Vendemmia (as it's called in Italy), Les Vendanges (in France) or Harvest in the US represents a winery’s one chance each year to make wine that will represent that vintage. Every decision - from when to pick, whether to hand-harvest or use a machine, whether to add things like stabilizers, de-foaming agents, inoculated yeasts - or not! - is all part of the winery’s philosophy and all helps to shape the identity of the finished wine.
At RAMONA we have worked with certified organic grapes - and citrus - since Day One, and we believe that less is more. After months of applications, paperwork and waiting, I'm thrilled to share that RAMONA is now a 3E Certified Sustainable Winery through Equalitas. This certification states that our grapes are grown sustainably and workers are treated fairly and paid an equitable wage.
We have found this results in the most delicious tasting product to boot.
Stay tuned for big news from us in the coming weeks. And cheers to new beginnings!
